Description

3M™ 1104 Low Adhesion Masking Tape is a specialist masking tape designed for applications where a less aggressive adhesive is required. Manufactured by 3M™, it features a chamois-coloured crepe paper backing with a specially formulated low-tack rubber resin adhesive, providing reliable masking performance while allowing clean removal from sensitive and critical surfaces.

3M™ 1104 is particularly suited to delicate materials and surfaces where conventional masking tapes may have excessive adhesion. It can be used on anodised aluminium, anodised titanium, treated wood, wallpaper, lacquered surfaces and other critical substrates where protecting the underlying finish during masking and removal is important.

The specially formulated low-tack adhesive provides good instant adhesion while remaining less aggressive than standard masking tapes. This allows the tape to hold securely during painting while helping to minimise the risk of surface damage or adhesive residue during removal. The tape provides sharp demarcation and good masking around curves, making it suitable for applications where accurate paint lines and clean finishes are required.

The saturated crepe paper backing provides good conformability and allows the tape to follow corners, contours and curved surfaces while maintaining its integrity. It is easy to tear by hand and is designed to resist slivering during application. A specially treated backing also helps control unwind and reduce waste during use.

3M™ 1104 also offers excellent temperature resistance for a low-adhesion masking tape. It can be cleanly removed after exposure to temperatures of up to 135 °C for one hour, making it suitable for paint masking applications involving controlled heating and baking processes. The tape is designed for indoor use and should not be subjected to prolonged outdoor exposure or sunlight, as this may make removal more difficult.
