3M™ 501E Masking Tape

Description

3M™ 501E High Temperature Masking Tape is a specialist masking tape designed for critical paint masking applications where excellent holding power and high-temperature performance are required. Manufactured by 3M™, it features a chamois-coloured crepe paper backing with a rubber adhesive, providing strong and reliable adhesion while maintaining excellent conformability around corners, contours and irregular surfaces.

Designed specifically for demanding industrial applications, 3M™ 501E can withstand temperatures of up to 160 °C for one hour. This makes it suitable for medium-temperature bake ovens, oven-drying systems, infrared curing, heat lamps and UV-curing and bake cycles. It is particularly well suited to automotive, specialist vehicle and industrial paint-finishing applications where reliable masking performance is essential.

The saturated crepe paper backing provides excellent conformability while maintaining its integrity when formed around corners and irregular surfaces. It is easy to tear by hand and is designed to resist slivering during application. The rubber adhesive provides instant adhesion and excellent holding power, helping to resist lifting and curling during demanding paint processes and helping to reduce the risk of rework.

3M™ 501E also offers excellent solvent and moisture resistance, making it suitable for use with a range of industrial paint systems. A specially treated reverse side helps control unwind and reduce waste during application. The tape is designed for indoor use and should not be exposed to outdoor conditions or prolonged periods of sunlight, as this can make removal more difficult.
